The retina is a light-sensitive tissue that lines the inner surface of the eye. The retina has layers of neurons, called photoreceptors, that are interconnected by synapses. When the light passes through the cornea it strikes the retina and this creates a chemical and electrical trigger of nerve impulses which are sent to the brain through fiber of optic nerves and this creates an image.
